Resources Hub

The Resources available through this program can help educators bridge cultural and linguistics gaps, pulling us closer together in our understanding, exchange and connection.

How to find the right resources for your needs

The Resources are categorised in many ways, helping you to quickly find the right Resources for you.

by LANGUAGE

While English is the dominant language in Australia, many people speak a language other than English within their families and communities.

This linguistic diversity is vast, with over 400 languages spoken in Australia, of which 167 are First Nations languages.

In NSW, the top ten most spoken languages other than English are:

Arabic
Mandarin
Cantonese
Vietnamese
Hindi
Greek
Spanish
Nepali
Italian
Korean

BY COUNTRY

The child’s country of origin often doesn’t provide the information you need to search for language-based resources.

But, there are other resources available here that are categorised by Country if it is specific to that country.

For example, a:

  • Country or regional flag
  • National dish
  • National anthem
  • Native animals and plants
  • A location-based resource e.g. A resource about Mt Fuji, as it is located in Japan.

BY FORMAT

Would you like a PDF word document with a big list of everyday words? That would be Survival Words!

Would you like a printable poster written in language?

A video?

A song in an audio file?

Or a set of cards to interact with?

Then search by Format!
